Engineering Day

On February 16, 2025, our team had the chance to participate in Engineering Day at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. The annual event brings together engineering companies, local organizations, and student groups to showcase what they’re working on and to inspire kids and families to explore STEM.
As one of the demonstrators, Team F.B.N.F. was proud to bring our FTC robot to the floor, letting visitors take control, ask questions, and learn firsthand what FIRST robotics is all about.

We brought our 2024–2025 Into the Deep robot and set up a space where visitors could see it up close and even take the controls. Throughout the day, people of all ages had the chance to drive the robot while we explained the different mechanisms and systems that make it work. It was a great way to introduce the community to robotics and to share what FIRST is all about.
Beyond just driving the robot, we talked with families about how FTC competitions are structured. We explained how teams design, build, and program their robots, and how matches include both autonomous and driver-controlled periods. Many parents were interested in getting their kids involved, which gave us the chance to talk about the different levels of FIRST — from LEGO League (FLL) for younger kids to Tech Challenge (FTC) and Robotics Competition (FRC) for high school students.
